Kit Creatives: Living room gadgets

09:45 Posted by Anonymous 1 comment
We’ve seen a variety of car related themes on Kit Creatives over the last two weeks. How about taking the fun indoors and making some interesting themes that can make your living room tech savvy?

It certainly would be cool if we could make some projects that were to help us some of the activities we do on a daily basis. Not just that, you could also win a few words of appreciation from guests who come calling.

Following are three fun “Kit-creatives” that you can make using your foundation and beginner level kits.

1) Post Box Indicator-F

In the age of the email and whatsapp, the mail is not exactly glamorous. Also, we tend to not check the post box on a regular basis for mails. Let's make a circuit to detect the presence of letter inside the box and indicate the same with the help of a LED.

2) Night Crawler Robot

Tired of searching for your lost items under the dark corners of the bed? Well, you could use a torch light, but why get your arms into darkness when you can actually send a robot to search for it? Part utilitarian part pranky, this will be a fun project to try out.

3)Little Robotic Cleaner - F+B

You probably have a vacuum cleaner back home, but this cute little innovation could still come handy in case you don’t have one back home. Build a cute little robotic cleaner using the stock robot.

Cool Car projects (contd....)

06:11 Posted by Anonymous 1 comment
It’s a week since the last article on Kit Creatives was published. In the previous article, we had discussed about some cool new gadgets that could adorn your family car and make it quite savvy for the tech fuelled 21st Century.

Today we pick up from where we left the other day and explore a few more projects in the same vehicle segment.

We are going to see a few more projects that can ease your dad’s life while he uses the car and will also help induce some swagger to your car.

Sit back and enjoy reading through a few new projects. Explore the world of technology through Kit Creatives. Also, don’t forget to try them out on your own Kidobotikz Kits.

If you are a owner of a car, then you can always relate to this issue. The blind spot behind the trunk of a car is one that we all dread of. It is always a tricky challenge of parking one’s car close to wall without accidentally bumping into it. Equally dreadful is the fear of sideway parking when you could ding your side mirror into the wall. The satisfaction of being able to park a car in a foolproof manner is one that we all dream of. If only we could have a secure Garage parking system that could warn us of the wall limit on all 4 sides. Made of a buzzer and limit switch, such a system would come to good use while parking the car in malls, theatres and public parking areas. To assemble one such system, all you would need is a few components from your Foundation Kit and Beginners Kit.

Learn step by step as to how this can be done here.

How often do you feel the urge to be able to change the brightness of the lights in your rooms, cars and elsewhere. Especially when you are trying to make the surroundings ambient, a bright light is the last thing you want as it can just bleach the surroundings with brightness and make the glare test our senses. You can always address this problem with a light dimmer. And if the dimmer can be controlled via a mobile phone, that’s just icing on the cake. To make such a project all you would need is a few components from your Foundation Kit and Beginners Kit.

OK, we know that this cannot be used onboard your car or anywhere in your house. But frankly, it is always fun to watch how Traffic Light Systems operate at all major roads without erring even a single time. Infact, traffic lights are one of the first few technologies that were automated by humans. Douse yourself with a bit of history and curiosity while you discover how to make a working model of a Traffic Light System. You can assemble such a system using nothing but your foundation level kit.

Induce some high tech features in your car with these cool projects

08:10 Posted by Anonymous No comments

Do you feel that your family’s car is a little low tech tech compared to the swanky new one your neighbour purchased? Wanna surprise your dad with some new cool features when he turns on the car?

How about retrofitting a few new features to your car to make it feel like a car that was built for the second half of the 21st Century?

Well, of the top of the mind, the easy way would be to innovate some cool new projects that pull off a smart statement every time someone boards the car.

Do you have your Kidobotikz kits,? Then it can be done easy peasy!

Following are three fun “Kit-creatives” that you can make using your foundation and beginner level kits.

1) Intelligent Parking Assistant System - F+B
How often do you feel the need for assistance in parking your car? This project will help you park your car without the need for requesting assistance from your apartment’s watchmen to monitor the blind spot while parking! Create a circuit to assist you in parking your car properly without collision. To try and test this circuit, all you would require is the beginner level Bluetooth controlled robot and a sensor. When the sensor senses some hindrance, it sets the buzzer abuzz. It can also help detect intruders in Parking Lot.

2) Automatic Headlight System - F+B
This is a feature that is not present in even the current generation. But, it would be awfully convenient if the headlight of our car or two wheeler turned on by themselves. And it would also be in the interests of the battery life if the lights turned themselves off in the mornings. This project should help us automate it in such a way that you can forget to flip the ON and OFF button on your vehicle.

3) Automatic Indicator System - F+B
Must be tiresome to sway your arms while creating turns .Wouldn’t it be cool if you could automate the process of being able to turn on your vehicle indicators as you made the turn. This project could help you do that. All you would require is a few components of your Beginner and Foundation level kits.

Pull off these projects and make your dad proud of you!

Redefine hospitality with some inspired gadgets!

07:52 Posted by Anonymous 2 comments

Do you get shy when guests come calling? Is your neighbour constantly goading about the new gadget he/she imported?

How about getting them all impressed and mystified every time they land on your doorstep?

Well, the easy way would be to innovate something cool that pulls off a smart statement every time someone walks past the threshold!

If you have your Kidobotikz kits, it can be done easy peasy! You’ll probably have all the neighbours dropping in for Navaratri, delight them with some fun projects!

Following are three fun “Kit-creatives” that you can make using your foundation and beginner level kits.

1) Automatic Door Bell Using IR Sensor- F
You guests will be amazingly pleased if they found out that right at the moment they landed on your door, they found the calling bell missing but the bell rang anyways. Surprise them with this curious innovation. All you need is an IR Sensor and a Buzzer

2) Foot Step Activated Door Bell-F
Imagine the bewilderment of the pizza guy at your doorstep when he finds out that as soon as he stepped onto the doormat he heard the bell go off. Part utilitarian part pranky, this will be a fun project to try out.

3) Smart Door Opening System - F+B
You’ve probably been impressed by the automatic sliding doors at the mall and the airport. Chances are you’ve been through the doors again and again only to marvel at the doors that slide aside automatically on detecting your presence. How about giving the same kind of feel to people who visit your home? If your dad isn’t too pleased with your idea of drilling holes into the door, you can always try this experiment on the windows of your bedroom.

Get innovative with Kit creatives!

07:26 Posted by Anonymous No comments

Hello there Kidobotikzian!

You done reading all other articles and tech-updates? You probably have ! And we know that your voracious reading appetite would still not be satiated even after going through tons of robotics magazines and journals. There’s also the likelihood that you’ve done away with all the chapters on your course and are now looking to pick up the next obsession.

Well, don’t worry! We got you covered!

We went a lil creative to come up with “Kit-Creatives!”

What is Kit Creatives?
All students of Kidobotikz know that there’s more to the robotics kits than just learning concepts and building the robots. It’s more about the fun that can be experienced and an extra bit experience that can be gained through the fun! This is where “Kit Creatives” comes into play.

Kit Creatives is a new segment of robotic activities and experiments that can be done through the Kidobotikz kits. These are concepts which can be tried out using the stock Kidobotikz robotics kit.

The Kit- Creatives page consists of dozens of fun experiments and iterations that can be tried out using one of the Kidobotikz kit or a combination of two kits.

What can you do with the Kit-creatives page?
Do you possess the Kidobotikz kits? Have you finished the first of your four levels? This means that you are now capable of operating all the components on the foundation level kit. You can use this knowledge of yours to try out the working models that have given there. This will help you gain some more expertise on your course until you move forward to the next level.

Is this only for the foundation level kit?
Not exactly! The “Kit Creatives” help you combine the components of all the four levels and use them to create a working model that cannot be created individually with any one of those kits. Also, there’s a naming convention for such experiments too. In case you find a project with the naming convention F+B, this means that this particular project can be done only using the components from the foundation level kit and the beginner kit. Same holds true for other conventions too. If you find an experiment labelled “B+A”, that would mean that the project can be done using components from the Beginner levels and Advanced levels.

How will this help you?
Well, for starters, the Kit Creatives projects are meant to trigger attitudes of frugal engineering in students. When students are working on Kit Creatives projects, they will be cross pollinating concepts from one levels and be using it on the kits of another level. This will ensure that students attain a holistic understand the entire course at hand and are able to see the importance creating new projects.

So what are you waiting for? Go to the Kit Creatives pages and get innovative !

Happy Roboting!
